A prelude to the John Carpenter classic of the same name, The Thing takes place in an isolated Antarctic outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival after an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. Paranoia spreads like an epidemic among the researchers of the marooned colony when the creature is determined to have shape-shifting powers, allowing it to become a perfect replica of any living being.
