July 2009 Day and Date Major Titles Include "Push," "Knowing," "Watchmen" and More

New York, July 30 - Many major film studios are now offering movies to cable's Video on Demand (VOD) the same day as their home video DVD release, according to iN DEMAND Networks, the leading distributor of VOD product. This "Day & Date" release schedule is a trend that has been on the rise for the past few years. Here are several hit movies this coming month that viewers can access on VOD starting on the same day as DVD: "Push" - 7/7; "Knowing" - 7/7; "Watchmen" - 7/21; "Dragonball: Evolution" - 7/28 and "Miss March" - 7/28.

In addition to Day & Date, many other great films are available on VOD this coming month, including: "Paul Blart:Mall Cop" - 7/3; "The Haunting in Connecticut" - 7/28; "Confessions of a Shopaholic" - 7/23, and many others. Go to for more title listings.

Many major movie titles have recently come to cable's VOD Day & Date with home video. Just a few of those include: "Gran Torino, ""Friday the 13th," "Inkheart," "Yes Man," "Frost/Nixon," "Bride Wars" and "A Plumm Summer."

Day & Date availability is growing quickly. According to David Asch, iN DEMAND Networks Executive Vice President, "Starting in mid-2007, there were only 15 titles offered to cable's Video On Demand platform the same time as DVD. In 2008, there were 73 day and date titles. If current trends hold, we expect to present significantly more than 100 day and date titles to cable viewers during the year 2009." So far this year, 30% of cable VOD titles from major studios have been offered day and date.

VOD is becoming second nature in many households. More viewers are finding the convenience and simplicity of Video On Demand a great way to watch movies. According to Rentrak, in the first quarter of 2009 alone there were more than 1.66 billion On Demand transactions on cable and other platforms in the U.S., including free, subscription and transactional offerings. According to Leichtman Research Group, Inc. over 40 million digital cable subscribers had access to VOD as of the beginning of 2009 (including both cable systems and telephone companies).

With a click of their remotes on digital cable, viewers can order, pause, rewind and forward. The vast majority of major Hollywood movies on VOD are also in HD. Viewers can find complete listings by going to, their on-screen guides or their cable system websites.
