Movies On Demand on Cable Schedule Update – October 2014

Viewers have ample chances to escape into the future with sci-fi and time-travel-themed major titles making their television premieres in October via Movies on Demand on cable.

The month is anchored by the huge worldwide hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, which garnered a 93% positive audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This latest in the famed super-hero franchise is a star-studded action flick (Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender) where the characters join forces with their younger selves to save the future. Not to be outdone, Tom Cruise powers another futuristic sci-fi action box-office hit, Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow which was loved by audiences and described by critics as brilliant and clever. Cruise plays a military officer who is thrown into a time-loop and lives the same mortal battle over and over until he outsmarts the aliens.

Continuing the time-travel theme is the animated Mr. Peabody & Sherman, starring the famous dog/boy duo.  When the boy Sherman gets stuck in a history-altering trip when he shows off their time machine to impress a girlfriend it is Mr. Peabody to the rescue.

Two R-rated comedies round out the featured major titles this month. Multi-hyphenateSeth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West combines bawdy, topical humor with a spoof of Westerns. Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel star in Sex Tape, playing a married couple who spend a frantic night trying to recover their private video that went public.
