 Movies On Demand on Cable Schedule Update – November 2014

Viewers will find several major blockbuster titles making their television premieres in November via Movies on Demand on cable. The month is anchored by Maleficent, the box office extravaganza starring Angelina Jolie, who embodies the evil queen from the Sleeping Beauty tale.  At the other end of the emotional spectrum is another huge hit, the comedy 22 Jump Street, with bawdy humor and great chemistry between its stars, Jonah Hill andChanning Tatum. Continuing the hit parade for November, How To Train Your Dragon 2 is MOD’s Thanksgiving gift to families, with over 90% positive Rotten Tomatoes reviews from both critics and audiences.

Big month for ACTION! Elsewhere on the MOD schedule is a great selection of new release action titles, including Hercules: Extended Edition, Into the Storm, The Giver, The Expendables 3, The November Man and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Also of note are two comedies, Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon in Tammy, and Let’s Be Cops with Deleted Scenes, starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson as costumed cops who become tangled with real life criminals.

A wide selection of indies premiere this month, including many that give audiences a chance to see high profile actors in smaller films.

Highlights of the month include Mood Indigo, from director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) who creates a whimsical and imaginative love story based on a French cult novel. Katie Holmes plays a teacher and assassin in Miss MeadowsThe Wind Rises is an animated story of an inspired designer of airplanes in the 1920s, voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film received high marks from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Daniel Radcliffe plays a med school dropout in the rom-com What If, falling forZoe Kazan.  In Two Night Stand, a blizzard traps a couple in the man’s (Miles Teller, The Spectacular Now, Divergent) apartment after their one night stand.

Also of note is the documentary, James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenge where the famed writer/director (Avatar, Titanic, The Terminator) films his own real-life adventure taking a solo submarine to the deepest part of the ocean.

A Merry Friggin’ Christmas premieres the same day as its theatrical release and featuresRobin Williams in one of his last film roles.
