Movies On Demand on Cable Update – October 2016

October is action-packed for Movies On Demand, and a good way to scare away the goblins before Halloween. From major blockbuster hits, to critical accolades, a great variety of new releases make their television premieres via Movies on Demand (MOD) on cable this October. Highlights below.

ACTION, ACTION, ACTION HITS

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse. Awakening after thousands of years, the immortal Apocalypse recruits his evil mutants to establish a new world order, leaving the fate of Earth in the hands of the X-Men, starring Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment and save his wife, Jane, from the lures of an evil envoy of King Leopold. The Legend of Tarzan stars Alexander Skarsgård, Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz.

From director Paul Feig, Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited reboot with an all-female goo-fighting cast, in this Ghostbusters Extended Edition starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The adventure follows two estranged paranormal researchers who reunite to take on a mischievous ghoul and his ghostly crew who are terrorizing Manhattan. And keeping with the invasive creatures theme, twenty years after alien invaders nearly wiped out mankind, they’re back with a vengeance in Independence Day: Resurgence, an explosive sequel to the original Independence Day.

FOR KIDS:

In Ice Age: Collision Course, Scrat’s pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe, where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events, threatening the Ice Age World. In Alice Through the Looking Glass, an all-star cast is reunited, (Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and many others) to return to the whimsical Underland.
