Movies On Demand on Cable Update – November 2016

November on MOD is a cornucopia of kids and family new release hits, major blockbusters, and star-studded indies available the same day as theatrical, all making their television premieres via Movies on Demand (MOD) on cable. Highlights below.

TREKKIES REJOICE

The month starts off on a distant planet with Star Trek Beyond, the action-packed intergalactic reboot of the beloved sci-fi franchise. On a rescue mission, the USS Enterprise is attacked by Krall after crashing on an uncharted world. From the Fast & Furious director Justin Lin and co-written by Doug Jung and Simon Pegg (who plays Scotty).

GATHER ROUND, KIDS AND FAMILIES

Happily, the box office juggernaut Finding Dory is making its MOD premiere at a perfect time for families to see it again. Kids also take center stage in three other animated and live action gems that sparkle this month: Pete’s Dragon, The BFG, and Kubo and the Two Strings.

The hit sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo, is Finding Dory, with Ellen DeGeneres once again voicing the memory-challenged blue tang fish. We meet her parents (Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton), and a host of beloved and new undersea characters. Pete’s Dragon, Disney’s epic reimagining of the cherished family film, is about the adventures of an orphan boy and his sometimes invisible best friend dragon. In The BFG, Disney animation presents the Roald Dahl classic tale of a young girl and a benevolent giant, directed by Steven Spielberg. In Kubo and the Two Strings, a young boy with the gift of telling fantastical stories is sent on a mystical quest to discover his family’s magical legacy.

BAD BEHAVIOR DUO

In Bad Moms, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn and Christina Applegate star in this hilarious comedy from the writers of The Hangover that proves every mother has her breaking point. In Sausage Party, a sausage leads supermarket products on a hilarious quest to discover what really happens when they leave the grocery store.
