Movies On Demand on Cable Update – May 2015
May 2015 includes a number of high profile titles from the majors and some fascinating and entertaining indie films making their television premieres via Movies on Demand (MOD) on cable.
The month is anchored by two powerful films based on real-life events. The Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper is one of the most talked-about and honored films of the year, featuring Bradley Cooper’s riveting, tour-de-force performance as a U.S. Navy SEAL sniper in Iraq. Viewers who missed the 2014 Best Picture-nominee, Selma when it was in theaters, have a chance to see this historical story of the tumultuous and pivotal time in the civil rights movement, when Martin Luther King led the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama to secure equal voting rights. The film received 99% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
In Still Alice, Julianne Moore is at her best in her Best Actress-winning performance as a renowned professor diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Also coming to MOD this month is the steamy, kinky film based on E.L. James best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as the couple engaged in games of sex and power.
