Movies On Demand on Cable Update – December 2016

Movies On Demand is the perfect companion for family gatherings during the holidays. The December schedule on MOD features several blockbuster hits in the family and action genres; plus star-studded indies available the same day as theatrical, all making their television premieres via Movies on Demand (MOD) on cable. Highlights below.

KIDS AND FAMILIES

In The Secret Life of Pets, comedy stars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, and Kevin Hart make their animated feature-film debuts in a clever tale that answers the question: what do your pets do once you leave home? And speaking of questions, what do Storks do in the age of drones? Well, they have moved on from delivering babies to packages, of course! The animated kid’s tale, Storks, is voiced by Andy Samberg, Katie Crown, Kelsey Grammer, Jennifer Aniston and more.

From visionary director Tim Burton comes Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, a wildly imaginative fantasy-adventure about a secret world for children with unusual powers, based on the #1 NY Times bestselling book.

ACTION

In Suicide Squad, a secret government agency recruits dangerous, imprisoned supervillains, namely Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis, to execute high-risk, black-ops missions in exchange for clemency. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass reunite in the fifth episode of the Bourne film franchise, Jason Bourne. This time the CIA’s most lethal former operative is drawn out of the shadows. In The Magnificent Seven (2016) a small town falls under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, and desperate townspeople seek protection from seven outlaws including Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke.

HEROICS

Tom Hanks stars as Chesley Sullenberger in Sully, about the brilliant pilot who made a daring decision after a bird strike to glide his plane onto a water landing in New York’s Hudson River, saving all 155 passengers and being hailed as a national hero.
