Viewers will find a wide variety of indie gems in April, including titles highly regarded by critics and recognized on the film festival and awards circuit.

The Best Foreign Film winner which garnered 96% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, Son of Saul is a heartbreaking Hungarian film set in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps in 1944 during WWII. Inmate Saul decides to carry out an impossible task: offer a proper burial for the body of his son.

Viewers still mourning the end of Downton Abbey can still get their Maggie Smith fix, though in quite a different role. In The Lady in the Van, she plays an eccentric, transient woman who ‘temporarily’ parks her van in a man’s (Alex Jennings) driveway and proceeds to live there for fifteen years, also featuring Jim Broadbent, Dominic Cooper and James Corden. The film received 92% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Salma Hayek and John C. Reilly play 17th Century Spanish queen and king in Tale of Tales a gory, grown-up fairytale full of princes and princesses, sorcerers and fairies, and monsters and ogres, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.  IP Man 3 is the third installment of the blockbuster Chinese martial arts series, in which a band of gangsters, led by a crooked property developer, make a play to take over the city.  Mike Tyson plays a small role in the film.

Also notable, Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Irons star in High-Rise, a thrilling adaptation of the visionary JG Ballard novel about a futuristic high-rise apartment building whose occupants quickly resort to violence and chaos after the power goes out.
