TROUBLESHOOTING

Q: I ORDERED THE MAJOR LEAGUE SPORTS PACKAGE AND IT’S NOT SHOWING UP ON MY TELEVISION.

A: Contact your local video service provider to make sure they have received your order request. Only they can authorize your cable box.

Q: WHY AREN’T MORE GAMES AVAILABLE IN HD?
A: HD games vary by provider. Please check with your local system for details.

Q: THE GAME I WANT TO WATCH IS BLACKED OUT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
A: Blackouts are required by the leagues. Call your video provider or tweet directly to their customer service twitter handle if you think a blackout is incorrect:

Comcast: @comcastcares

Cox: @CoxHelp

Time Warner Cable: @TWC_Help

BrightHouse: @BrightHouseCare

Verizon: @verizonfios

Cablevision: @OptimumHelp

If your provider is unable to provide a solution…

  1. That game may be scheduled to be blacked-out in your area. Blackouts are determined by the leagues. Generally, if a game is blacked out on the package, it means that a local or national channel is airing it and you will be able to see it elsewhere. Blackout areas differ by sport and may include areas beyond your immediate city. See more information below.
  1. If you can’t receive the signal, your set-top box may be outdated. Please double check with your system that your box has no issues. It may need to be rebooted or replaced.

HOW TO ORDER

Q: DO I HAVE TO ORDER THE FREE PREVIEW?
A: No. Just tune to the package channels and enjoy the games! To find the channels, click here and enter your zip code and system.

Q: DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT TO VIEW OUT-OF-MARKET SPORTS PACKAGES ON MY SYSTEM? DO I NEED A SET-TOP BOX, FOR EXAMPLE?
A: In order to be able to order any of the sports packages, you need a digital set-top box. This enables your cable company to authorize your household to receive the programming, much like other scrambled programming such as HBO or Showtime.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: WHAT ARE OUT OF MARKET SPORTS PACKAGES?
A: These packages bring you regular season games from around the country. Even if you live in one city and your team is in another, the packages let you see the match-ups you want to watch. The games included on these packages are in addition to those available on national broadcast networks, FOX, ESPN, ESPN2, TBS, league networks and your local in-market networks (such as a regional sports network and/or over-the-air network).

Q: WHAT CHANNELS ARE THE PACKAGES ON?
A: Channels vary by system. Please check your programming guide.

A: You can view or download the monthly schedule as a PDF here.

BLACKOUTS

Q: WHAT ARE BLACKOUTS?
A: Blackouts are regional television restrictions distributed in order to protect the local television rights’ holder broadcasting the game. Blackout restrictions are based on the home team’s television territory as defined by each league. Blackouts apply regardless if the team is playing home or away, and regardless if there is local coverage or not. If there is a blackout when you think there shouldn’t be, contact your video provider and tweet to their customer care handles as described above.

Q: WHAT ARE THE NATIONAL BROADCAST RIGHTS/RESTRICTIONS?
A: During specific days/times, certain national broadcasters have exclusive television rights for distributing major league games. No games are available on MLB EXTRA INNINGS during the following exclusive national broadcast windows:

ESPN Sunday Night Rights:

No game telecast may be made available at any time during which ESPN is telecasting a LIVE Sunday Night Game. Accordingly, based on ESPN’s schedule for 2015, any game with a start time after 5:05 PM ET, on all Sundays during the regular season cannot be included within the Package.

Q: WHAT ARE THE LOCAL BROADCAST RIGHTS/RESTRICTIONS?
A: If you live in a zip code area that falls within a major league team’s home television territory, that team’s games will be blacked-out from the package. These games will generally be available on that team’s Regional Sports Network (RSN) or team affiliated over the air station. Blackouts protect the local rights-holders who arrange separate distribution agreements for their exclusive territories.

Q: HOW ARE HOME MARKETS DETERMINED?
A: By counties/zip codes
