Senior Accounting Associate

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITES:
To perform accounting tasks and financial analysis related to the Company’s financial statement closing process. Position involves various daily and monthly financial accounting duties.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare analysis for monthly financial statement closing process
• Prepare and record standard monthly journal entries
• Prepare and distribute departmental expense variance reports to department heads in the closing process. Identify and follow up on potential expense accruals and variance explanations
• Prepare various monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations (Fixed Assets and Depreciation, Cash Application, Deferred Rent Straight Line Amortization, Accrued Liabilities, License Fees, etc.)
• Prepare analysis to summarize activity from our affiliate payment database (Business Objects) into the General Ledger
• Coordinate with the Financial Planning team to record monthly revenue entries and monitor billings and accruals
• Coordinate with external auditors for the interim/year-end financial statement audit
• Provide guidance and coaching to the Accounting Associate
• Act as a backup for A/P processing function and Payroll/401(K) function
• Perform ad hoc tasks in support of the Assistant Controller/Controller for the monthly/quarterly financial statement close process and various tax filings (Commercial Rent/Puerto Rico)

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 2 years of prior accounting experience

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize daily work load
• Ability to work efficiently and proactively, with excellent attention to detail
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Exercises good judgment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with ACCPAC General Ledger Software (SAGE 300) is a plus
