Press Release #183 (2/27/14) iN DEMAND

Movies On Demand on Cable Schedule Update - March 2014

A rich selection of movies premiere on Movies On Demand (MOD) in March, including a strong slate of Awards-nominated and winning titles filled with riveting, subtle and gut-wrenching acting.  Plus a number of indie titles are premiering on MOD before theatrical or same day as theatrical release.

At only 23, Jennifer Lawrence is already recognized as one of one of the most brilliant actresses in America. This month, viewers can experience her playing two very different characters, that of the lead heroine, Katniss, in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as well as her Golden Globe-winning turn as the wife of con-man Christian Bale in American Hustle.  The critically and audience-acclaimed Inside Llewyn Davis features Oscar Isaac as a folk singer in 1960s Greenwich Village (received 94% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes).

Also in March are two of the season's top historical dramas with the same theme, just separated by one century and one ocean. Easily one of the season's most highly respected and honored films, 12 Years a Slave from director Steve McQueen (Hunger) is an unflinching, brutal, yet brilliant look at the tragedy of American slavery. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom chronicles Nelson Mandela's heroic and ultimately successful lifelong quest against the injustices of the South African apartheid system, based on his autobiography.

And viewers who missed this in theaters can catch the Martin Scorcese-directed black comedy about the dark side of Wall Street, The Wolf of Wall Street, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio's Golden Globe Award-winning performance as corrupt stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Cable is the nation's powerhouse in delivery of movies via the On Demand platform, representing over 60% of all paid orders in the U.S., far outpacing satellite, iTunes, Amazon and all others.* Only 18% of movie orders come from digital storefronts. Movies On Demand on Cable (MOD) is the easiest, most convenient way to rent movies from home instantly, with just a click of the remote. It is part of digital cable service.
